Hi all - Just in case you haven't already gotten your garden in order, we've got a few extra tomato plants to unload.
This is now our third year of growing vegetable plants from seed indoors, and somehow we have even more than ever before. We started with organic heirloom seeds, so you should be able to save the seeds and start them from scratch yourself next year if you’d like!
Please let me know if you are interested in taking a plant or two (or 12). We’re asking for a $3/plant donation to make a dent in the money we spent on seeds and supplies (not to mention the utilities bill for having a grow light in our kitchen the past 3 months!) If you'd rather not put out cash, we are also VERY OPEN TO BARTERING/TRADE - just shoot me an email with your thoughts!
Email me if you are interested - we can arrange for porch pick-up in Hampden.
All the plants would do great in the ground but the smaller tomatoes would also grow very well in pots or those silly topsy turvy contraptions.

Tomatoes (listed by fruit size, smallest to largest):
-Sweet Pea Currant: hundreds of tiny fruit per plant. Excellent tomato flavor with a hint of wine. Fruits are borne in trusses of 10-12 on plants with a spreading habit.
-Sungold Select II – orange cherry tomatoes with sweet, tangy taste (although there is a chance you will get red ones, as we did!)
-Blondkopfchen (little blonde girl): small golden-yellow 1 “ fruits with excellent sweet taste. Fruits are borne in giants clusters, enormous yields and never a cracked fruit. Bears until frost.
-Black Plum – oval-shaped fruit that look purple-brownish red. Large vines yield very well. This was my favorite last year - SO delicious roasted!
-Large Red Cherry: large 1.5-2 inch cherry tomato. Extremely productive, full flavor. Good for salads or canning whole.
-John Baer: Bright red, meaty, smooth fruits with very good flavor. Great for both fresh eating and canning. This is your standard red tomato.
-Pantano Romanesco – roman heirloom from Italy; large and deep red in color, with almost a purple tint. The flesh is rich, flavorful and juicy – very rare and delicious.
We have run out of Aranas Noire Tomatoes, Mexican Sour Gherkins, Hot Fish Peppers and Sweet Lipstick Peppers.
Feel free to forward this email to ANYONE you think might be interested – we’re swimming in plants!!
Thanks,
Jennie B
